#Tie me Switcheroo down, sport, tie me Switcheroo down...

*cough* Erm... sorry, just killing time. *grin* I guess you'll be wanting to know what's here? Well, there's:

The introduction

Still using Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups? Jealous of those Windows 95 users with their flash task bar, [Start] and Run history? You've come to the right place, my friend...

The bit that tells you about Switcheroo and how to use it

Honest Ron's Switcheroo is a task switcher thingy for Microsoft Windows. It allows you to switch between programs by using the mouse (i.e. none of that pesky Alt-Tabbing). Switcheroo also features a [Start] button with a Run... command which id better than the Program Manager one. Why's it better? Well, for a start, it remembers up to 100 previously-executed command lines. Program Manager can't even manage to remember one -- or if it can, I've never worked out how to do so. Switcheroo also places the 5 most recently used commands on the [Start] menu. Marvellous, huh?

The bit that tells you how to use Switcheroo

To use Honest Ron's Switcheroo you must start by running the program! Obvious to most, but you'd be surprised... Run the program switcher.exe which will be in whichever directory you unzipped the original zip file. If you like using Switcheroo, you may want to add it into your Startup group in Program Manager. Once running, Switcheroo will sit as a pixel wide line at the top of your screen. Look closely. You activate Switcheroo by moving the mouse pointer to the top of the screen. When Switcheroo activates, it will show you a button for each running program. Simply click a button to switch to that program. If you click the [Start] button you will see a popup menu. Use the Run option to run a program. Exit will, funnily enough, exit Switcheroo.

The part with the screen shot

This is what Switcheroo looks like when it's been pulled down (by moving the mouse pointer to the very top of the screen).

The bit you go to to download it

switcher.zip - 36,900 bytes

Installation is simplicity itself. Simply unzip the .zip file in the directory that you want Switcheroo to live in. If you decide that you hate Switcheroo, somply delete the program again, and also delete the file switcher.cfg which will be in your Windows directory.

The waffle about the license

Honest Ron's Switcheroo is free software. You are free to copy and distribute it as much as you like, and by any means -- although you are not allowed to make money from so doing. In other words, you may charge reasonable expenses (postage etc.), but no more than that. I'd like to hear from people using the program, be it bug reports, praise or merely touching base. Picture postcards are especially welcome. Send them to Honest Ron's Dreamarama, 1 Equitable House, Bulk Street, Lancaster, Lancs, LA1 1GX, England, UK. Please mention Honest Ron's Switcheroo.

It's highly unlikely to do anything nasty to files on your machine, but if it does, it's your fault, not mine.
